How to create a map?
The most important part of interface is layer list. Create
your map by making some layers visible. After making changes, you must click
the Refresh Map button for your
changes to be reflected on display area.

You may zoom in to the area of the map that you click or
drag a box around (click zoom in tool first). You may zoom out (click zoom out
tool first) by clicking on the map. You may also pan (click pan tool first) the
display in the direction that you drag the mouse pointer. In the left corner
the overview map is displayed. Using toggle overview map button you may add or
remove it from the map display area. You may also toggle between legend and
layer list using toggle legend button.

How to print or save a map?
Click the print tool than input the map title and click
Create Print Page button. You
may print created map or save any its part as a picture. (press right mause
button and choose Save Picture As. 
How to get information about
a map features?
What is a depth in this place? What kind of sediments are at
given locations? Using identify tool (click it first) you display attribute information for the
features that you cliked. You may get this information for any geographic
position (it is displayed in status Bar) just moving the pointer where you
need. First the atributes of active layer are displayed next all attribiutes of
all visible layers.

How to quary a layer?
Searching for features is based on a query expression. You
quary features in similar way as in traditional database. First click Active
beside a layer to make it active. Only one layer can be active. The active
layer is the layer against
which querying, buffering
and so on will be performed. Click quary tool. Click the Field dropdown arrow
to select field in data base
(see description of layers in the end of this guide). Write quary
string and click on
Execute Button (quary string may use several fields of active
layer). Selected features will be highlighted and list of features matching your search
criteria appears in the box below the map display area. To clear the selected

How to measure distances on
a map?
Click measure tool on the toolbar (to set display units use
Set Units tool). Then
click the starting point on your map and add a second point
creating a line segment (you may
continue this procedure). The total distance of all of the line segments
appears in the text box. To clear the box and remove segments from the map
click Clear Selection on the toolbar.
